49ers win and Chico State Women open CCAA play in Turlock

49ers Trounce Redskins

COLIN KAEPERNICK AND VERNON DAVIS CELEBRATE A TOUCHDOWN IN NINERS MONDAY NIGHT WIN

(AP) — Colin Kaepernick completed 15 of 24 passes for 235 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions Monday night as the San Francisco 49ers broke a two-game losing streak with a 27-6 win over the Washington Redskins.

Kaepernick outperformed Robert Griffin III in the first matchup of two of the game's young, agile quarterbacks, both of whom have struggled this season after breakout years in 2012.

Kaepernick threw two touchdowns to Anquan Boldin and one to Vernon Davis. Boldin finished with 94 yards on five catches. 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh says it was a game the Niners needed....

The 49ers improved to 7-4, tied for second with the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West.

Griffin was 17 for 27 for 127 yards and threw one interception for the Redskins. He was sacked four times.

The Redskins fell to 3-8.

CHICO STATE WOMEN OPEN CCAA PLAY

The Chico State women's basketball teams opens up CCAA play with a game tonight against the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors. Chico is off to a 4-0 start and coming off an impressive 77-67 win over the Tampa Spartans at the Sonoma Elsie Darling Classic. Wildcats senior point guard Courtney Hamilton was named the tournaments MVP after nearly notching a triple-double (9pts, 8 rebs and 10 assists.)

The Wildcats had double-digit leads throughout the second half, but saw Tampa cut the deficit to four at 66-62 with just under three minutes to go. In desperate need of a bucket, the Wildcats turned to their senior shooting guard Jazmine Miller, who had the ball with the shot clock running down....

Chico will take on Stanislaus tonight at 7pm with our pre-game on Newstalk 1290 KPAY coming your way at 6:35pm. You can also hear the game on KPAY.com and ChicoWildcats.com

BANGED-UP WARRIORS BEGIN FOUR GAME ROADIE

The Warriors will not use injuries as an excuse but you certainly couldn't blame them if they wanted to. Golden State has lost three in a row and will be short-handed again as they take on Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans in the Bayou tonight. Already dealing with injuries to Andre Iguodala, Toney Douglas, Jermaine O'Neal, and Festus Ezeli, the Warriors will have to play tonight without Andrew Bogut who has been suspended for tonight's game for his role in Saturday night's skirmish against Portland. Game time is 5pm
