49ers run over Rams and Chico State soccer hits the road and Butte Football looks to continue dominance

FRANK GORE AND NINERS RUN OVER RAMS

(AP) — Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes, Frank Gore had his first 100-yard game of the season and the San Francisco 49ers' defense stepped up without some of their stars in a 35-11 rout over the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night.

Anquan Boldin had five catches for 90 yards and a touchdown, and Gore had 153 yards on 20 carries and a 34-yard score for San Francisco (2-2), which was outscored 46-10 the previous two games. Navarro Bowman had two of the 49ers' five sacks with a strip leading to a fourth-quarter scoring run by Anthony Dixon.

The Rams (1-3) had an overtime win and tie against San Francisco last year, and took the early lead Thursday before falling flat. Greg Zuerlein banged in a 40-yard field goal off the right upright to end a nine-game scoring drought in the first quarter, but the 49ers answered with 28 straight points.

(AP) — Terrelle Pryor returned to the practice field for the Oakland Raiders three days after sustaining a concussion but is not participating in team drills.

PAGAN'S BLAST GIVES GIANTS SERIES OVER DODGERS

(AP) — Angel Pagan hit a tiebreaking home run leading off the eighth inning to give San Francisco a win in what might have been Tim Lincecum's final outing with the club, and the Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Thursday night.

Pagan's fifth home run in an injury-shortened season was surrendered by losing pitcher Paco Rodriguez (3-3) and plunked off the top of an ambulance parked just beyond the fence in left field.

Lincecum struck out Yasiel Puig three times among his six Ks but missed a win against the NL West champion Dodgers. Santiago Casilla (7-2) earned the victory with a 1-2-3 eighth, while Sergio Romo pitched the ninth for his 38th save.

Lincecum is wrapping up a $40.5 million, two-year contract that paid him $22 million this season. The 29-year-old right-hander allowed two runs and three hits in seven impressive innings.

San Francisco police say that 21-year-old Michael Montgomery was arrested on suspicion of homicide in the stabbing death of Denver Wednesday night.

Montgomery's father said his son told him by phone that during the fight, Denver hit his son over the head with a chair, and in self-defense, his son stabbed Denver.
