Chico secures berth to 2012 College World Series

For the first time in the Dave Taylor era the Wildcats were able to punch their ticket to the Division II College World Series. By disposing of Dixie State in Monmouth, Oregon the Cats punched their ticket to Cary, North Carolina to play among the nation's best.

The Chico State Baseball team was trailing 7-1 going to the top of the 9th inning against arch-rival Sonoma State. The Wildcats would pull off the most amazing of comebacks as they score 8 runs in the 9th to beat the Seawolves in the series. The Rally at Raley was the first of what will be many meetings between Chico State and Sonoma State at the home ballpark of the Sacramento Rivercats, the home field for the Oakland A's Triple-A affiliate

Gotawala comes through against Kennesaw

At the 1997 Division II College World Series the Wildcats were in a tight game against the defending D-II National Champion Kennesaw State Owls. Player of the Year Steve Gotawala stepped with the lead run on base and chance to put Chico State in front and send them to the National Championship game....

Edgar Sedano's grand slam against the U.C. San Diego Tritons sent the Wildcat faithful into a state of delirium. The Wildcats would eventually beat the Tritons in a wild one on a Saturday afternoon in 2007

Ryan Martin's walk off home run against Mesa State in the 2005 West Region Championships will go down as one of the most dramatic home runs in Chico State Wildcat history. Not only was it a walk-off home run, but he did it in front of 3000 loud boisterous Mesa fans at their home park. How many times does a team get to walk-off a team in front of THEIR OWN fans? Chico would beat Western Oregon the next day and advance to the Division II College World Series for the sixth time in school history.

Playing in front of 3000 raucous Mesa State fans in Grand Junction, Colorado the Wildcats had loaded the bases with one out, trailing 5-1. Slumping Ryan Martin came to the plate in a game that will go down as one of the most exciting and riveting in Wildcat history...

The Chico State Wildcats had a magical 2002 season and rarely found themselves trailing, but on this Friday night in late April the Wildcats trailed Cal Poly Pomona by a run with two on and their hard hitting catcher Rusty Kawachi was at the plate...after fouling off numerous pitches....he found one right in his wheel house....

Dan Winterberg's three run homer in the top of the 11th inning gives Chico State an 11-8 lead against Central Missouri State. Chico would eventually win the game 13-11 and stave off elimination at the Division II National Championships

Chico had managed only 5 hits and 1 run thru the first 15 innings of play at the 1998 Division II College World Series. They trailed Central Missouri State 6-0 in the 6th before their bats awakened. This swing by Wildcat All-Time home run leader Rich Gregory would tie the game. Observers would tell Fox Sports Radio's Mike Baca it is one of the longest home runs they would ever see it at Paterson Field in Montgomery, Alabama

The Wildcats were down to their final out in the bottom of the 9th inning of the 1997 Division II National Championship game. Ryan Sasser was at the plate and tying run Tyrus Acoba was at second base.....It is one of most exciting sequences in the history of Chico State Baseball
