Butte County authorities say a robbery suspect crashed a stolen truck, caused a fire, and led a Sheriff's deputy on a pursuit Thursday afternoon. The Sheriff's Office says a Forbestown man told investigators two men forced their way into his home, sprayed him with pepper spray, and left in his truck. A deputy spotted the vehicle a short time later and followed it to Foothill Boulevard. Authorities say the driver crashed into a power pole, another vehicle, and a fire hydrant. The damaged power pole reportedly led to a fire at a vacant home. The deputy arrested the alleged driver, identified as Christopher South, after a foot chase.
