Suspect in Butte County Assault Changes Plea in Court

A man charged with assault and facing a trial next week in Butte County has changed his plea.  The Chico ER reports Joseph Baker pleaded no contest Thursday to assault with a deadly weapon following a 2009 attack in Forbestown where the victim was beaten and lashed to a pole.    Baker will be sentenced in January and faces up to 7 years in prison.
