Redding Robbery Suspect Hit with Shovel

Redding Police say a man who allegedly tried to rob a local gas station was hit in the head with a shovel and only made off with jerky.    Police say 25 year old William Cree allegedly demanded cash from a Valero employee early this morning and tried to steal merchandise. The employee refused to give the suspect money and apparently hit Cree with the handle portion of a shovel.   Redding Police say Cree ran to a getaway car.  The suspect and the alleged getaway driver were both arrested.
