The latest crime report for the city of Chico shows a gradual decrease in criminal activity for the first half of 2012. The report looks at homicide, rape, robbery and assault or crimes against people, and such things as burglary and auto theft, or crimes against property. Chico Police Crime Analyst Robert Woodward says many crimes occur in certain areas, like burglaries in the general campus area.
Woodward says however he's seen some disturbing trends of late. Preliminary numbers show there are 122 burglaries in Chico for September. That's an all time high compared to what is normally 30 or 40 burglaries in the city in September.
