Butte County gets a split verdict on keeping its kids healthy. A report by the group Children Now looked at 28 key indicators for all of California's counties. The report looked at everything from prenatal care to kids on welfare. Researcher Jessica Mindnich says Butte County scored well on students who are ready for college level math courses. She says too many children in Butte County have been in the welfare system for too long. Butte County also had low marks for its lack of a school health center, something that hurts almost all California counties.
