A report card of sorts goes before Butte County Supervisors today on the county's efforts with realignment. That's the state program that lets local authorities deal with lower level offenders. Butte County Undersheriff Cory Honea says the snapshot by local authorities and Chico State officials shows the prolgram by and large is a success, with a 20 percent failure rate in its Alternative Custody Supervision Program. The realignment plan began a year ago this month. Honea says the 20 percent "failure rate" is a lot better than other California counties. He says the report provides a snapshot of what's working and what needs to be improved to carry out the program and protect public safety.
