The Butte County Sheriff's Office says a man and a 2 year old child have drowned in a pond near Biggs. Authorities say the 53 year old man and his son were in an inflatable boat Saturday when the boy fell overboard. The Sheriff's Office says the father jumped in to save his son, but was not able to get them back into the boat. The man died at the scene...the child died at a local hospital. Meanwhile, the Sheriff's Office says a 23 year old Fairfield man died Saturday after being swept downstream at the afterbay of the Feather River. Authorities say Kenneth Cooper was underwater for nearly 10 minutes before being pulled out by rescuers.
